Universal Watercolor Exposition, the Olympic summit of watercolor art in IWS’ blueprint, is designed to meet the new height of contemporary world painting art. Through the Universal Watercolor Exposition, we wish to build a high-end platform, to demonstrate watercolor classics, to offer opportunities, to highlight the top level and to lead the development of the world watercolor art. We will make all effort to use watercolor art to interpret "Olympic" spiritual connotation of higher and stronger, to achieve the common goal of all the human beings "unity, friendship, peace, progress", to sound assembly of the contemporary world watercolor art and to make the world better and more colorful.
China is bestowed with unique advantages in the more than 80 member countries of IWS to bid for the 1st Universal Watercolor Exposition. Canal towns in Southern China have been known as a paradise on earth for thousands of years. The rivers and lakes crisscross here, the water network is horizontal, the small bridges across the river, ancient towns and idyllic cottages here and there. And now the picturesque place is authorized by the IWS as the host of the 1st Universal Watercolor Exposition.
“Water Fairy”, as the mascot image presented by the Organizing Committee of the 1st Universal Watercolor Exposition, is closely related to the water and watercolor, is a link to the emotions of participants, and most important, the beautiful envoy from canal towns in Southern China to the new world of watercolor.
二、征集时间(Solicitation Period)
The solicitation period is from July 1st, 2017 to 24:00 on September 1st, 2017 (subject to receipt of the mail). The mailbox to receive submission is iwschina@163.com. Anyone who delivers the works after the deadline will not be eligible.
三、应征对象(Applicants)
全球专业设计师、艺术院校师生、设计爱好者，不限个人或机构，均可按照本规则参加征集活动。
Professional designers, art teachers and students, design lovers all over the world (not limited to individuals or institutions) can participate in the collection activities in accordance with these rules.
四、应征作品内容(Contents)
1) 吉祥物设计：可以是图形，或文字，或图文结合。
Mascot design: can be graphics, or text, or graphic combination.
2) 两种情景下的吉祥物应用效果
The mascot application effect in both scenarios:
a. 应用在平面印刷品（衍生品及宣传资料等）。
Apply in print (derivatives and promotional materials, etc.).
b. 应用在户外（引导旗、地铁灯箱广告、海报等）。
Used in the outdoor (guide flag, subway light box advertising, posters, etc.).
五、应征作品要求(Requirements)
以“水仙子”作为“首届世界水彩画大赛”吉祥物的设计元素，“水仙子”吉祥物设计必须新颖独特，生动活泼，富有创意。能够体现大赛的“国际性、权威性、专业性、艺术性”，同时具备举办地（中国江南水乡）的地域文化特色。
Please take “Water Fairy” as the design element of the mascot of the 1st Universal Watercolor Exposition. The “Water Fairy” Mascot should be novel and unique, creative and meaningful. It should be able to reflect "international, authoritative, professional, artistic" of the activity, and the regional cultural characteristics of the host (canal towns in Southern China) at the same time.
六、应征作品成果(Application Works)
The design instruction helps the judges to understand the works. The content of the instruction is intended to elaborate the logo design ideas and concept. And the description text should be concise and clear in format, and be complete in presentation.
4、递交的设计画面中不应出现任何与创作者有关的信息。
Any information related to the designer should not appear in the submitted design.
七、递交要求(Submission Request)
The mascot design should be submitted as an e-mail. The mailbox that accepts the submission is iwschina@163.com. The format of the submission mail name should be "Mascot of IWS Universal Watercolor Exposition 2018 + designer name". The contents of the mail should specify the nationality and the city, name and contact information of the designer. The attachments must include design and design instructions, and the design should be in digital format.
八、评审流程(Selection Process)
1、由相关领域专家组成的评审团对应征作品进行评选。
A panel of experts from the relevant field will review all the application works.
2、评选期为2017年9月至10月。
The selection period is from September to October in 2017.
3、奖项公布：2017年10月。
Awards will be announced in October 2017.
九、奖金(Awards)
1、IWS组织专家评审，评选出优秀设计奖3名，由IWS颁发“首届世界水彩画大赛吉祥物设计优秀奖”证书，并奖励人民币两万元。
IWS experts will review all the designs carefully and strictly to select 3 winning designs. IWS will award the 3 winning designers "Excellence Award” for Mascot Design of Universal Watercolor Exposition 2018, and RMB 20,000 per person.
The IWS Bureau will designate a mascot. The designer of the designated mascot will become "Honorary Member" of IWS and receive another RMB 20,000 award.

1、收到的所有应征作品一概不予退还，应征者请自留底稿原件。
All application works received will not be refundable. Applicants should keep the original.
During the application period, the applicant shall not transfer or authorize the entry to any third party. The entry shall not be used for any other activities which are the same or similar to this event.
3、应征者须确认拥有所提交作品的完整著作权及版权，确认提交作品从未转让或许可给任何个人或机构。
The applicant must confirm the full copyright of the submitted works and confirm that the submitted works has never been transferred or granted to any individual or institution.
Please be sure to keep the source of the works. Finalists should submit the source file for the shortlisted works, and sign the corresponding copyright agreements. Those who do not sign the agreements will be deemed to automatically give up the final qualification.
5、入围设计师不得用入围或获奖作品参与与本赛事相同或类似的其他活动。
Finalists may not use the shortlisted or winning entries to participate in any other activities which are the same or similar to this event.
The copyright of the application works is protected by Chinese law. All intellectual property of the winning mascot design works, other than the right of authorship, (including but not limited to copyright, all rights to all flat, stereoscopic or electronic carrier of the works) is owned by the organizer. The organizer has the right to make any form of use, development, modification, authorization, licensing or protection of the mascot design works.
7、主办方对本活动保留最终解释权。
The organizer reserves the final right of interpretation of this activity.
