Presentation of the divulgative magazine of the BarcelonaTECH Chinese Students’ Association
As the Chinese
students’ association of BarcelonaTECH , we are pleased to announce the
constitution of our new official divulgative magazine. It is open to the
participation of students of different nationalities, who are currently
studying or doing research in one of the several universities of our city. This
magazine is going to be in digital format, and it will be available through
Facebook, Wechat, Researchgate, while it can also be mailed, on request, to
scholars and student associations around the globe. The aim of the magazine is to
enable university students to learn about the study and research areas of the
other members of the community, as well as to promote an interdisciplinary
network where the students of the BarcelonaTECH can get in touch with scholars
of other universities. This publication can serve as a platform where science
leads to the association of the Chinese community with the local and other
world communities.
The content of the contribution to themagazine can be
a. Divulgative discipline article: The maingoal is to resemble magazines such as “Scientific American”, rather than highlytechnical journals such as “Nature”.
a.1. Research divulgativearticle: Summarizing and explaining, in a more accessible manner, your resultsfrom your previously publishedscientific articles, congress presentations, book chapters, etc. The main goalis to promote interdisciplinary exchange, and to present your area ofstudy/research to a broader audience.
a.2. Research report: Focusing on your field ofinterest. It can derive from your previous project reports or classroomassignments (please refer to https://trataguas.wordpress.com/).
b. Travel
experience notes from the students abroad who have come for a stay in
Barcelona: You can talk about your thoughts, and tell anecdotes about so-called
“cultural clashes”. Please have the content be positive, constructive, and
tolerant towards other cultures.
c. Front cover image: Release
your inner artist by sending us pictures and drawings. We encourage original
creations, which will become the front cover upon mutual agreement of us and
the contributor. Before the release of the first number of our magazine, we
need two versions of the front cover:
c.1. One for the first number, as well as forfuture issues if no pictures have been received during the editing period.
c.2. One for the second number.
Description of the
participant: University students, and scholars.
Publishing standards
a. Please send your work along with your fullname, university or research center name, your speciality, your current grade(for example: third grade of bachelor, second year of doctorate), your e-mailaddress/Wechat ID or other contact information, a short self descriptionand (optional) a picture of you.
b. The language of the written work in itsfull extent must be in English or Chinese. The magazine itself will be composedof fully English and fully Chinese original texts. The magazine would not betranslated. The goal of promoting the writing in English is for the magazine togain a further reach. In addition, we would like to be a “safe environment” forthe students to train for a future career developed in the English language.The purpose of the Chinese writing is mainly for the presentation of the authorto influential Chinese thesis-directors and scholars.
c. The format of the text must
be in Word or LaTeX. The limits for English texts is of 200-800 words, and,
whereas the Chinese texts, should be bound to 200-800 characters. In case it is necessary for a correct conveyance of your
ideas, the upper limit can be surpassed.
d. Images must be in pdf, eps
or jpg format. In case of of jpg images, the resolution must be 300 pixels or
above. Please indicate the order in which the images appear in the text. In
case the image is not original, it must belong to Creative Commons. Otherwise,
they need written authorization, and the source must be expressed in the
caption.
e. All written works must be original.Plagiarism is forbidden. All non-original works will be returned and never tobe used.
f. The ownership of the accepted written andgraphical works is of the BarcelonaTECH Chinese Students’ Association. Thecopyleft of such recollection of work will be Creative Commons.
Evaluation criteria: The
works received must conform to the above standards.
How to contribute: Works,
ideas and suggestions can be sent to our official e-mail address upcestudianteschinos@gmail.com. The subject must be “Contribution to magazine - title - (Author name)”.
Time limit: The contributions will beaccepted in a continuous manner and evaluated according to rigorous order ofreception.
